die erste Einzelausstellung in unseren neuen Räumlichkeiten bespielt.<br>

„<i>Die Variationen des Materials (Pigmente, Tempera, Ölfarbe, Wachs) <br>
sind immer Teil der Untersuchung, Teil der Entdeckung. Aber jedem Bild <br>
liegt die mich umgebende gegenständliche Welt und ihre Erscheinungen <br>
zu Grunde. Es geht immer auch um die flüchtigen Dinge in der Welt, <br>
das Licht - der Raum zwischen den Gegenständen, die Erinnerung,
Geschichten. <br>
Die Malerei entwickelt sich aus einer Wechselwirkung zwischen
"Bildidee" <br>
und "Materialidee". Neue Bezüge stellen sich her und man weiß vorher
nicht, <br>
wo es enden wird. Die Farbe macht auf etwas aufmerksam, zeigt etwas, <br>
zeigt sich selbst. Im fertigen Bild sind solche Momente versammelt. <br>
In einem früheren Werkabschnitt mit dem Arbeitstitel "Negativland"
beschäftigte <br>
mich die Möglichkeit optischer und begrifflicher Gegenbilder. Die
Motive verweisen <br>
durch das Prinzip der Farbumkehrung und der daraus resultierenden
Verselbständigung <br>
des Motivs auf eine fremde und irrationale Seite vertrauter Dinge.
Malerisch bedeutet <br>
dies eine Befreiung vom naturalistischen Abbild und eine Konzentration
auf die Farbe <br>
und auf die Potentiale der Malerei. Hiervon habe ich profitiert. <br>
<big><b>Ich sehe in der Malerei weiterhin ungeahnte Möglichkeiten</b></big>.</i>“<br>

“<i>Pigments, tempera paint, oil paint and wax are the tools used to
create such rich colours <br>
and variations in form. I use these diverse materials to create all
manner of forms of shades, <br>
thereby investigating the possibilities open to me in making an image.
Sometimes, I move <br>
beyond representation. Yet each painting has its roots in the objects
and images around me. <br>
Painting is the result both of the notion of the image and the process
of making it. <br>
The effect these two components of art-making have on each other is a
crucial aspect <br>
of the picture itself. The process in which the painting is realised
can be excruciating; <br>
it is a process of delving into the nature of the medium. Spots, lines,
and colour surfaces <br>
alter the tension in the composition in every stage of the process and
this can be traced <br>
in the resulting, completed work of art.<br>
In my recent series entitled “Negativland”, I toyed with the dynamic
between what part <br>
for a painting looks like and what it stands for. Each composition is
also the result of colour <br>
reversal processes as well as the effect this has on how recognisable
images change <br>
merely by altering the colour, exposing new aspects of familiar things.
This frees the paintings <br>
from the constraints of depiction and focuses attention, instead, on
colour and the pure energy <br>
inherent in the medium. I benefit from this by constantly rediscovering
the unlimited possibilities <br>
that painting offers me as an artist</i>.”<br>
